 Storytelling Portraits (Lecture/Demo)

Have you wondered how to visualize and create a great environmental portrait?  Join Ryan for a class in which we will explore concept to creation steps to a strong portrait in any environment.  We will look at all of the elements needed to bring out a strong emotional connection in your image between your subject and their environment.  In this workshop you will learn lighting concepts, compositional techniques and how to choose the correct lens and focal length to effectively define your subject in their environment.  We will also look at how to put these skills into use real-world practice for musicians, commercial clients, and personal projects.  In the last portion of the class we will photograph a live model and put techniques into action.  Bring your camera! 



Ryan's Bio: 

Ryan Brown has been a professional photographer in the Kansas City area, photographing weddings and portraits domestically and internationally for 10 years.  

Ryan is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, and is the past President of the Missouri Professional Photographers Association. Ryan’s degrees from the PPA include Master of Photography, Master Artist, and the degree of Photographic Craftsmen.  

Ryan’s certifications include Certified Professional Photographer, Certified Wedding Photographer and Certified Stock Photographer. 

Most recently, Ryan has presented programs for professional photography organizations and schools in Arizona, Nevada, Kansas, Montana, Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, and appears frequently at industry trade shows and conventions.  

Ryan earned a B.S. in Photography from Central Missouri State University.
