It has had different names over the years but has always had the same goal: to educate, encourage, and honor Missouri photographers. This year it takes place in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Here's what you need to know to book in the room block.
• Clink on this reservation link to secure our room rate at $139/night: Courtyard By Marriott Develop Reservations
Why should you stay in the room block?
The price is good, for one! Also, our rates are calculated based on the hotel filling rooms. If we do not fill our allotted rooms, we will still pay for them. Not coming directly out of your pocket? Well, yes it is. It comes out of our general funds (which are your yearly dues...) Please keep that in mind.
Get a roommate or two and share the cost of the room!
Also, there are very few king sized beds in this hotel. If you want a KING... book ASAP.

Florina Romoser - Pre-Conference
Creativity, Inspiration: Going Above and Beyond Your Standard Portrait Session:
Focus less on the photograph, more on the result.
This class will concentrate on creating value, not volume and how to attract the right clients who love what you do and will spend what it takes to have your portraits in their homes.
This is why we will each discuss ways to create a higher sense of value and how we pre-educate our clients on the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each portrait before they step through the door. This program is focused on effective use of the core portrait photographer’s “toolbox” (Camera, Lens, Light, Props, Posing, etc) that consistently results in powerful portraits. Learn how to find and grow your creative style, find inspiration and work with YOUR imagination. Florina will also talk about her work and the thought process behind creating her imagery. Learn to create with confidence and eliminate the boundaries between what is possible and impossible.
The hands-on shooting and location events are core elements of this intense yet fun class and we will use all types of light (Natural, Available, Reflected, Florescent, LED, Strobe etc. ) and practice how to blend light and subject to gain the most impact. This is an active class and direct student involvement, and participation is key! We will finish with a step-by-step post processing training using Adobe LR and PS where the students will edit images and compete in a final class image.
Hands on creative photo shoots both in studio and on location, lighting, posing, propping for creative story telling.
• Inspiration, Creativity and Fine Art: What is that anyway? What inspires you creatively? How do you take inspiration and creativity and turn it into something? Florina demystifies what fine art is by tapping into art history and get an introduction into seeing your work in an art gallery.
Seniors Start to Finish: Join Master Photographer Dawn Muncy for this fun and informative program focusing on high school seniors. Dawn will walk you through the Muncy senior experience from marketing to delivery. We'll start the day with how to handle phone, email and social media inquiries. Then walk you through the consultation and why it's so important. We'll also cover a number of lighting and posing options to create variety, excitement and value. We'll finish the day discussing the flow of the sales session, a few pricing and product tips and the final delivery of portraits. This program is jam packed with useful information for the creative and business side of the senior genre. You'll leave with ideas and concepts that you can put into place right away to increase your bottom line. Join us, it will be fun!
How To Add Films ToThe Senior Portrait Experience: Video is HOT right now! And if you're a photographer who has been frustrated with learning it, or if you've been too daunted by the idea to even try it, this course is designed just for you! Garon approaches the subject from a photographer's mindset to get you into 'filmmaker mode'. You'll learn how to 'think in video', get shot ideas, discover what to do and what not to do during the process, learn what gear Garon uses, and pick up loads of tips and ideas. The entire goal is to leave you with actionable steps to get started creating great video promotional content and exciting new offerings for your clients.
Creating amazing images is nothing more than simple cooking: I will show you how to organize seven shooting elements so you will be able to shoot and create amazing images in any genre.
Polishing Portraits: Tools to help you finish your images with finesse: Whether we outsource or do everything ourselves, or are preparing images for competition, having a solid retouching foundation is very valuable. Nichole will take you through the process of frequency separation, as well as some tips that you can adapt in to your own workflow and style.
• Lighting and Photographing Executive Portraits: In this class Cary Garrison will cover the properties of light, how to see it, the use of modifiers, light ratios, lighting the male executive form, and the business side of photographing executive portraits. Cary will demonstrate different effects created by using various modifiers and lighting ratios. In the class, you will learn what the male executives want in their image. Photographing executives can be a “cash cow” for any photographer. Join Cary in learning how to be a moneymaker photographing the executive male with the use of lighting and modifiers to create a powerful image.
